School Rules
ATTENDANCE
- All students who are present in the school must attend the flag-raising ceremony. No one is to be elsewhere in the school without the permission of a teacher.
- Students who are Singapore citizens must sing the National Anthem and take the Pledge. Students will take the Pledge with the right fist over the heart.
- Students are considered late if they report to school at their respective venue later than their designated official reporting time.
- A student can only leave the school during curriculum hours because of medical or other valid reason/s. He/she must first inform his/her form teacher before the parent/guardian is notified by the office staff.
- A student who is absent from school must produce an original medical certificate or have a valid reason with original documentation/letter submitted. (Acceptance of letter/s from parent/guardian is capped at 4 days of absence per semester)

On Weighted Assessment (WA) and/or Exam days, only medical certificate which state that a student is “NOT FIT FOR WA or EXAM” will be accepted.
- Students are not allowed to leave any lesson venue without permission from the teacher.
- During curriculum hours, students are not allowed to go to the canteen to purchase food or drinks unless permission is given by the form/subject teacher.
ATTITUDE
- No food or drink (other than plain water) is allowed anywhere else in the school except the canteen (or venues on special occasions approved by the school).
- Students are not allowed to bring anyone into Temasek Secondary School who is not an official staff/student of the school. All visitors entering the school must report to the Security Guard Post to sign-in for a visitor’s pass.
- Students are not allowed to engage in any behaviour that would bring the student and school into disrepute e.g. vandalism, smoking, loitering at HDB void decks or being a nuisance in public etc.
- Students are not allowed to be at/near the classroom blocks during their recess.
- Students are not allowed to bring any illegal items such as cigarettes, drugs, pornographic materials or any other item that will compromise safety and learning e.g. toys, game consoles, card games etc.
- All students are not allowed to have in their possession any weapon. They are also not allowed to bring any weapon-like item which is used or intended to be used to cause harm to others.

Personal learning devices are NOT to be tampered (i.e. settings changed/reset and/or unauthorised software installed). They are to be used only for educational reasons. Hence, they are not allowed to be used for watching videos, playing games, listening to music and using social media in school etc.
- Students must abide by the following mobile phone regulations:
- Mobile phones are to be kept in the lockers from start of 1st period to end of last period.
- Mobile phones are to be switched off while in school or during any school programme. They are to be kept out of sight at all times.

Mobile phones are only allowed to be used in the canteen/foyer/study area outside AVT at the following times:
- after the official end of each curriculum day
- before the start of an afternoon school programme

on non-curriculum days (e.g. school holidays; Saturdays)
- Mobile phones are not allowed to be used for entertainment or recreational reasons in school e.g. watching videos, playing games, listening to music, using social media etc.
- If mobile phones need to be used for official/educational reasons, specific instructions will be given by the teacher/s to switch on the device for the activity and to switch off the device at the end.
- Failure to abide by the regulations above will result in the mobile phone being confiscated. (For more information, please refer to the School Policy on Mobile Phone)
APPEARANCE: GENERAL
General Code for Uniform
- Students are to wear the prescribed school uniform and modification to the uniform is not allowed.
- The school uniform must be worn with the school badge prominently displayed at all times.
- During term time, students must be in one of the attires below (with Temasek/plain white socks that cover the entire ankle knob and white shoes with white laces and minimal coloured markings):
- Mondays: School uniform or polo t-shirt tucked into their school skirt/pants. Students to change into their PE attire before their PE lesson.
- Tuesdays to Fridays: School uniform or polo/PE t-shirt tucked into their school skirt/pants.
- Students who come back to school for any school programme must be in one of the attires below (with socks and shoes)
- school uniform OR
- school polo t-shirt tucked into their school skirt/pant OR
- school based t-shirt tucked into their school skirt/pant OR
- full PE/CCA attire.
Otherwise, they will be asked to go home to change into the correct attire.
PE Attire
- The PE attire (School PE t-shirts and shorts) must be worn for PE lessons and during unstructured physical activities in school.
- No other school t-shirts should be worn during PE lessons.
Shoes & Socks
- Students must wear all white shoes with white laces and minimal coloured markings.
- No high cut shoes are allowed.
- Only Temasek/plain white socks covering the entire ankle knob are allowed.
- Both shoes and socks must be kept clean at all times.
- Students are not allowed to wear slippers/sandals in school or for any school programme unless given permission due to medical reasons supported by a medical certificate.
Glasses/ Contact Lenses
- Students are not allowed to wear dark or tinted glasses. Only cases certified by a doctor or ophthalmologist are allowed.
- No coloured or cosmetic contact lenses/glasses as fashion accessories are allowed.
APPEARANCE: MALE STUDENTS
Shirt
- Plain white shirt with straight collar and short sleeves.
- The shirt must not be undersized/oversized and rolling up the sleeves is not allowed.
- The shirt must be buttoned and tucked in at the waist at all times.
Short/ Long Pants
- Navy blue short pants with one back pocket on the right side.
- Navy blue long pants for the upper secondary boys must not be drain-piped, bell-bottomed, tapered or pleated at the waist and must be long enough to cover the entire ankle knob.
- No decorative ornament or dangling key chain is to be worn at the waist.
- Only the upper secondary boys are allowed to wear a belt – navy blue or black with a plain steel buckle.
Hair
- Hair must be short and neat at all times not touching the eyebrows, ears and/or collar. Moustache, beard and/or side burns are not allowed.
- Fanciful or inappropriate hair styles are not allowed.
- Perming, dyeing and/or extension of hair is not allowed.
Face, Accessories and Fingernails
- Male students must be clean shaven and neat in appearance.
- Students are not allowed to wear any decorative ornaments or accessories.
- Fingernails must be kept short and clean and must not be grown beyond the fingertips.
- Any student with a tattoo will be suspended from school.
APPEARANCE: FEMALE STUDENTS
Blouse
- Plain white shirt with straight collar and short sleeves.
- The blouse must not be undersized/oversized and rolling up the sleeves is not allowed.
- The blouse must not have any pocket.
- The blouse must be buttoned and tucked in at the waist at all times.
Skirt
- Navy blue A-line skirt of knee length.
- The skirt must not be folded at the waist.
Hair & Face
- Girls must keep their hair neat and tidy at all times.
- Girls who have long hair must tie up their hair neatly. Any loose strands of hair must be held up by a hairband or pinned neatly to the side.
- All fringes and curls must be tied/pinned up.
- Dyeing and extension of hair is not allowed.
- Only black/dark blue/dark brown coloured hair accessories are allowed.
Make-up, Accessories, Fingernails and Jewellery
- Students are forbidden to wear facial make-up and/or apply mascara/eyeliner.
- Drawing of the eye-brows is not allowed.
- Fingernails must be kept short and clean and must not be grown beyond the fingertips. They must not be painted with nail polish or stained in any way.
- Students are not allowed to wear any decorative ornaments or accessories.
- However, girls are allowed to wear only one pair of stud-earrings or small-ringed earrings, of the same type, at the lower lobes of the ear. These earrings must not be luminous or striking in colour.
- Any student with a tattoo will be suspended from school.
