Acceptable Use Policy
Technology is an essential part of learning in today’s world. In order to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment, please abide by the rules stated in this Acceptable Use Policy.
This Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) establishes guidelines on the appropriate use of our school’s ICT facilities, equipment and EdTech resources to help all Temasekians use technology safely and responsibly, in line with our efforts to develop Temasekians’ digital literacies and nurture digitally responsible citizens. ICT facilities, equipment and EdTech resources include the following, but are not limited to:
Learning devices (e.g. Personal Learning Devices (PLDs), school-issued devices)
ICT system accounts (e.g. Singapore Student Learning Space (SLS), iCON)
School internet networks
School computer labs, software (e.g. productivity software, online tools), peripherals (e.g. projectors, printers, cameras)
GENERAL
Temasekians are responsible for using school-owned ICT facilities, equipment and resources for the purpose of learning. Personal use such as gaming and engaging in social media platforms is strictly prohibited.
Temasekians should not attempt to access data, system and information that they are not authorised to.
Temasekians are responsible for any resource that is borrowed from school for the duration of the loan and will have to bear the cost of damage, theft or loss due to negligence and face disciplinary action in accordance to the school’s discipline policy.
Temasekians are responsible for their personal devices. The school will not be held responsible for any damage, theft or loss of their devices.
Temasekians are reminded that the use of learning devices and school’s EdTech resources should solely be for the purpose of learning.
ACCOUNT

Temasekians are responsible and accountable for all activities conducted via their own account.

Temasekians are responsible for the security of their account IDs and passwords. All account IDs and passwords should not be shared with anyone.

Temasekians should change their passwords regularly, at least once in 6 months.

Temasekians are to use their full name as stated in their EZlink cards for all account IDs. Aliases, nicknames and pseudonyms are not allowed.
BEING A RESPONSIBLE DIGITAL CITIZEN
1. Temasekians should interact with others in a respectful and responsible way. Temasekians should not post online remarks that are
* racially and/or religiously insensitive,
* vulgar and/or offensive, or
* hurtful to others.
2. Temasekians should not use any devices to
* store, modify, create or share content (e.g. documents, presentations, pictures and videos) that is inappropriate (e.g. indecent, pornographic, defamatory, hurtful to self or others).
* make threats, cause harassment or embarrassment, impersonate or intimidate others.
3. Temasekians should not use MOE/school-deployed ICT system accounts for any commercial activities (e.g. buying and selling of goods and services).
USING YOUR PLD

Temasekians are responsible for their PLDs. In the event of loss or theft of the device, Temasekians must make a police report and report the matter to the school.

In order to have a positive learning experience, Temasekians should ensure that their PLDs are fully charged before bringing it to school. Temasekians should only charge their PLDs at the school’s designated charging stations. Please refer to the Terms of Use for more information.

Temasekians are reminded to keep their PLDs updated by installing the relevant patches and updates when being prompted by the system.

All PLDs are installed with a Device Management Application (DMA) to support a safe and conducive learning environment. Temasekians should not attempt to bypass the DMA.

Temasekians are responsible for regularly backing up their learning materials in their PLDs to prevent data loss.

DIGITAL WELLBEING AND BALANCE
Temasekians are reminded to balance screentime with other activities including physical exercise and face-to-face social interactions.
Temasekians should avoid excessive use of their devices outside learning hours.
Temasekians should take regular breaks to rest their eyes and mind.
Temasekians are reminded to practice good sleep hygiene by not using their devices one hour before bedtime.
RESPECTING COPYRIGHT
Temasekians are reminded to obtain explicit permission from the content owner(s) before downloading, copying or sharing any copyrighted materials (e.g. pictures, videos, music).
Temasekians should not use, copy, edit or share digital files in an unauthorised or illegal manner.
USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI)
Temasekians must ensure that they meet the minimum age requirement specified in each AI tool's age restrictions before using it.
If the use of AI is permitted, Temasekians should acknowledge the use of AI in weighted assessments and homework as required.
Temasekians are to practice academic integrity and be responsible for their own learning when using AI. They should not present others’ work as their own, and should understand that doing so ultimately short-changes themselves.
STAYING SAFE AND SECURE ONLINE
Temasekians should report any incidents (e.g. unusual device behaviour or inappropriate use of devices), to the school.
Temasekians are reminded to develop online safety habits. This includes not disclosing personal access credentials (e.g. MIMS password, PLD passcode, etc.), sensitive personal data (e.g. home address, passwords) online or on AI platforms, verifying credibility of online content before sharing, avoiding clicking on suspicious links or downloading unknown files, and being cautious when interacting with others online (e.g. on social media) by not engaging with strangers.
Temasekians should exercise caution regarding the limitations of AI tools, including potential inaccuracies / fabricated responses, inherent biases and outdated information.
The school reserves the right to record and retain data on school-owned devices and/or accounts issued by the school for investigation or evidence.
Violation of any policies, rules or administrative procedures may result in a temporary suspension or revocation of student’s account. The student may also face disciplinary action in accordance to the school’s discipline policy.
